Corporate Social Responsibility
Kathangariri Tea Factory is deeply committed to sustainable development and community well-being. Our core CSR initiatives focus on environmental conservation and community empowerment. We annually raise approximately 100,000 tree seedlings in our factory nursery, distributing them to the local community at subsidized rates or free of charge. In 2007, we organized a successful tree planting field day in Mbeere district, educating the community on the benefits of commercial tree farming and fostering community participation.
Furthermore, we have established a 100-acre tree farm in Gachuriri, Mbeere district, with the first phase involving the planting of 16,250 seedlings. Beyond environmental initiatives, we actively support local institutions, such as Kairuri Children’s Home and Jomo Kenyatta Children Foundation, through donations of food, training materials, and equipment. We also contribute to humanitarian efforts by supporting the Kenya Red Cross Society with donations of food and clothing.
